Although we love to have fun in our structured setting, we must have a few school rules for the safety of the students, parents and instructors.
Upon entering and leaving Affinity Martial Arts, salute the flags and bow upon walking on the mats. Salute the flags with the right hand to the heart.
Always place your shoes and coats in changing areas.
No unattended or supervised children are permitted.
Remove all jewelry before entering class.
Whenever you arrive during a class, stand at the entrance until the instructor acknowledges you. At that time, request permission to enter the class. Do not leave class without the instructor’s permission.
The following are not allowed in Affinity Martial Arts: shoes (on mats), socks (on mats), food (on mats), smoking, intoxication, gum, profanity or arguing.
No cell phone use while you are in class. If it’s required for emergency purposes inform the instructor(s).
Always wear a clean uniform to class. Fingernails and toenails are to be kept short and neatly trimmed.
Whenever you approach your instructor, bow first and speak respectfully. Always respond to an instructor or black belt by saying, “yes, sir or yes, ma’am”.
Always show your best attention and give your instructor positive response to questions.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your class.
Memorize our “Student Creed” and recite it at the beginning of each class. Learning — Understanding — Applying its meaning will enhance your progress.
Whenever you need assistance, simply inform your instructor (by raising your hand) that you do not know a particular movement and the instructor will assist you. Never ask the instructor to demonstrate, simply ask your question and trust that he or she will take care of you.
Students must always show respect for each other.
Self-control in class is paramount; therefore loss of temper should be avoided at all costs.
Students are expected to help maintain cleanliness at Affinity Martial Arts.
The area behind the reception desk is off limits to all students (unless being sized for equipment).
