Judo/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Judo is many things to different people. It is a fun sport, an art, a discipline, a recreational or social activity, a fitness program, a means of self-defense or combat, and a way of life. It is all of these and more.
Kodokan Judo comes to us from the fighting system of feudal Japan. Founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano, Judo is a refinement of the ancient martial art of Jujutsu. Dr. Kano, President of the University of Education, Tokyo, studied these ancient forms and integrated what he considered to be the best of their techniques into what is now the modern sport of Judo.
Judo was introduced into the Olympic Games in 1964 and is practiced by millions of people throughout the world today. People practice Judo to excel in competition, to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence, and for many other reasons. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it.
The belt and ranking system of Judo is similar to that of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This is for very good reason as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu had spawned from Judo in the early twentieth century when Judo expert Mitsuyo Maeda moved to Brazil. He would teach the Gracie family Judo, which would turn into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. For that reason, the ranking system in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are very similar to each other.

Kids BJJ

Our Little Warrior’s program is designed to give children between the ages of 4 and 12 the confidence and abilities not just in martial arts, but also in their daily lives. By training effective techniques repetitively, our students are able to defend themselves with complete self-control while still being able to think of the next step; thus giving them an edge in self-defense situation.

Prepare your child for bullies...

According to the National Education Association, 160,000 kids miss school every day out of fear of bullies.
In 2002, the U.S. Secret Service concluded that bullying played a significant role in the majority of school shootings.
Studies show that adults who were bullied as children have higher levels of depression and lower self-esteem than those who weren't. ...Prepare your child for life!!!
With our bully proof curriculum we instill confidence by teaching your child how to protect themselves from over aggressive kids. We reinforce discipline by rewarding hard work with belt promotions. Each promotion will reinforce your child's commitment to achieving meaningful results through hard work and discipline - characteristics that will serve them in all areas of life! Our program will also show that fitness can be fun. Most kids do not like formal exercise, but they do like to play. We carefully combined physical activity with exciting mental stimulation to keep kids focused throughout the lessons. They have fun and get in shape at the same time.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Mat time, consistency, and repetition. You do not have to be strong or a super athlete. You don't have to be big. If you put the time in, train regularly, and drill your techniques until they are as natural as breathing, then you will go far. The most important thing in your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training is showing up. We can teach you all the technique there is to know, but you won't master those techniques until you've drilled them a thousand times. Put your time in on the mat and you will see results; you will get better. There is no secret formula or crazy strategy. It is simple: like any sport or athletic activity, practice makes perfect.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ranking system is composed of five levels: white, blue, purple, brown, and black. Between each level from white to brown a student must earn four stripes, marking their progress. As a student becomes more advanced, they will spend more time on each level. This journey is not fast, and it is especially not easy. The title of Black-Belt is reserved for the few who stay committed and dedicated to their training. The title is earned.
